Buffering Coco Coir

Coco coir can have a lot of salt content and requires charging from the CEC. When expanding coco bales or hydrating loose coco, use the following formula to pre-treat coco coir:

To 100 gallons water add:

300 grams calcium nitrate

22 grams magnesium nitrate

171 grams magnesium sulfate

5 grams iron EDTA

Make sure ingredients are completely dissolved before adding the next to the water and do not pre-mix dry. Hydrate coco thoroughly to run off. Ingredients can be found at Custom Hydro Nutrients.
